The notice to the Indian Women’s Press Corps to vacate its premises by July-end is yet another indicator of the media’s dispensability in Modi’s New India. The closure of the IWPC at 5 Windsor Place on Ashoka Road, a 27-year old institution, would mean one less forum where journalists can engage with people in public life. It would also be a major blow for many young women scribes who require a central place to operate from since their offices have mostly relocated to the faraway National Capital Region. Nearly two decades ago, when the IWPC premises’ lease renewal seemed in jeopardy, Parliament passed a resolution backed by all parties, including the BJP , expressing solidarity with the institution and requesting that the IWPC be allowed to retain the premises as it had an important role in our democracy. Whether this time the IWPC gets its lease extended or is foisted with a new administration on the lines followed in the takeover of the Delhi Gymkhana, or is simply evicted, … [Read more...] about Who needs media in New India?
In response to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remark on Congress using ‘Ram Janambhoomi’ foundation day for protest to promote their "appeasement politics", MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Saturday said that the BJP cannot tolerate their protest, and "that's why they're trying to divert the attention of common people by resorting to their only weapon 'Ram'," news agency ANI reported. Earlier on Friday, Amit Shah attacked the Congress, saying the party picked August 5 for a protest and that its leaders were dressed in black because they "wanted to give a subtle message to further promote their appeasement politics." “I can’t understand why they protested today. Every day when they protest, they used to wear their usual normal dress but today they wore black clothes. Congress chose this day for protest and wore black clothes because they want to give a subtle message to further promote their appeasement politics because on this day itself PM Modi laid the foundation of Ram … [Read more...] about ‘Govt Worshipping Raavan In Name Of Ram’: Congress’ Adhir Chowdhury Hits Out At HM Amit Shah
The BJP has planned to expand its base among the Yadavs, Jatavs and Pasmanda Muslims as part of its strategy to win all 80 Lok Sabha seats in the 2024 general election. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and former state BJP president Keshav Prasad Maurya had also dropped a hint in a recent tweet, saying Yaduvanshi (Yadavs), Ravidasiyo (Jatavs) and Pasmanda Muslims will be brought closer to the BJP so that the lotus “blossoms” in every booth in UP. After the party’s victory in the Azamgarh and Rampur Lok Sabha bypolls, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had claimed that it will win all 80 seats in next general election. While OBC Yadavs and Muslims form the Samajwadi Party ’s “MY” vote bank, Jatavs have been siding with the BSP led by Mayawati so far. New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday slammed the Congress for holding nationwide protests on August 5, claiming that the grand-old party chose this date as they oppose the Ram temple in Ayodhya and that they wanted to give a subtle message to further promote their ‘appeasement politics’. According to a report by news agency PTI, Shah said that everybody saw protests from Congress leaders of late in regular clothes that they wore but they especially chose black clothes for their Friday agitation as PM Narendra Modi peacefully resolved an over 550-year dispute that was associated with the faith of crores of people. #WATCH | Congress chose this day for protest and wore black clothes because they want to give a subtle message to further promote their appeasement politics because on this day itself Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation of Ram Janambhoomi: Union Home minister Amit Shah pic.twitter.com/hopwRSPZht — ANI (@ANI) August 5, 2022 The … [Read more...] about Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath Link Cong Protest In Black Clothes To Message Against Ram Temple
