Synopsis In 2020, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) issued a notification capping the market share of any single entity on UPI to 30%. Companies were given till December 2022 to comply with the order. Currently, the market shares of the top two payment apps on UPI are more than 30% each. They will need to bring down this share to 30% or lower. Payments companies are now seeking extension of this deadline.
